Little Changes That Can Make A Huge Impact On Your Home

Home is where the heart is. But sometimes, your heart needs a makeover! New furniture, new paint, new wall decor. Looking at the same interior every single day can get a little tiring. And even though revamping your place can be costly (and time-consuming), there are small changes you can make that’ll completely transform your home — here are 10 of them:

Change Your Doorknob

You grab doorknobs every single day. Whether it’s the door to your front house, your bedroom, or your bathroom — they’re everywhere! How often do you actually stop to really look at your doorknobs? Odds are, your doorknobs are dull and not really doing anything to enhance your home. You can change that by buying new ones. Add a pop of color, or pick a neutral tone, it’s completely up to you!

Pillows, Pillows, Pillows

Not only do pillows make a home look comfier and inviting, but they can also enhance a color scheme. When picking out throw pillows, try to find colors that match not so noticeable objects in your house. For example, if you have a bright blue painting on your wall and everything else in your home is neutral, pick blue throw pillows. Pillows, like rugs, are a great way to subtly bring additional colors into your home.

Look For Peel And Stick Wallpaper

Wallpaper can be expensive and a little intimidating. You don’t want to spend all that money on new, floral wallpaper only to hate the way it looks next month. Instead of buying the expensive stuff, look for peel and stick wallpaper. Not only is it easy to apply, but it’s easy to take off. You’ll be able to change the colors of your wall whenever you want!

Take A Good Look At Your Kitchen

It’s likely that one of the messiest places in your home is in your kitchen. Especially if your counters are filled with appliances. Play the disappearing act. Find places, in cupboards or cabinets, for your kitchen essentials. It’s okay to leave one, or two, everyday appliances on the counter but everything else? Abracadabra, make it go away! Removing clutter will make your home feel less hectic.

Change The Blinds

If you moved into an apartment or condo the windows might be on the boring side, thanks to those old, hard to open, blinds. Change them up. Swap out your old blinds with new blinds or add curtains. This small change will help your home feel homier.

Improve The Smell

Smell matters! No one wants to walk into a stale smelling home. You might be used to the smell of your home, but I can promise you other people aren’t. Smell is important and you should work to ensure your home has a satisfying scent. You can use air fresheners, candles, or even essential oil infusers to help with that.

Look For Accent Pieces

Small accents can make a huge impact on the way your home looks and feels. You can use stencils to create a pattern on your wall or find a rug that brings the entire living room together. Look at your home, room by room, and see where there’s room for accent pieces. Pillows, decor, a splash of color. You don’t want to go overboard. The point of accent pieces is for there to be only a few. Maybe even just one, depending on the size of your home.

Replace Your Shower Curtain

How long have you had your shower curtain? Is it looking a little dingy and outdated? Sounds like it’s time to swap it out. Not a lot of people focus on their bathroom interior when they’re trying to make small changes but your bathroom is equally as important as your living room. Guests will go into your bathroom and you probably spend time in there, too. The decor should be inviting and the smell shouldn’t smell…well, like a bathroom.

Change Your Comforter

Comforters go out of style, too! Your summer comforter might still look good on your bed, but it’s a new season. It’s time to upgrade. You also might need a warmer comforter, depending on the weather. Luckily, comforters aren’t incredibly expensive and you can find them anywhere; Target, T.J Maxx, etc. While shopping for a comforter, you can also pick up a throw blanket to add a pop of color to your bedroom as well.

P.S. If you have the budget for it, a new mattress might be a good idea too. Especially if you’re past due for one. Your guests might not be able to tell your mattress is brand new, but you’ll feel like a new person!

Experiment With Lighting

You don’t even have to go out and buy a new lamp to do this. You can use the lamps you already have in your home, just move them around a little. Lighting is incredibly important for your home. It can impact the entire ambiance. If your living space feels dull, it might be because of your lighting. Add small lights, big lights, or even colorful lights to boost your home’s energy.
